Individual, Family, & Group Psychotherapy for
Complex Concerns and Relationships
Individual TherapyMany people are attracted to individual therapy as it provides them with an opportunity to explore their concerns, fears, and hopes with individualized attention. I frequently work with individuals with depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles in individual counseling. My individual therapy style is relational and direct and guided by psychodynamic, attachment, and narrative approaches.
Couples TherapyRelationships are hard work. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, it seems as if we get stuck in the same patterns of interacting with our loved ones. My work with couples is aimed at helping people understand their communication and relational styles and use this knowledge to heal each other and their relationship. I assist clients in examining how their family of origin impacts their current relationships. In therapy, I witness couples move beyond blaming and resentment to a place of acceptance, love, and growth.
Walk TherapyWalk therapy can be a good alternative to traditional talk therapy for certain clients. Walk therapy is essentially talk therapy done in motion. Walk therapy works well for clients who struggle with sitting still (due to attention issues or anxiety), clients that feel claustrophobic in closed rooms, clients that feel uncomfortable with direct eye contact, and clients who think better when in motion. Walk therapy provides the additional benefits of exercise and insight through movement, as walking can generate pathways to new discussions. Regular exercise has been shown to assist in regulating mood, decreasing anxiety and depressive symptoms, and improving overall well-being.

Family TherapyAll problems - and solutions - exist within a system. In family counseling, I work with all members of the family to help improve parenting styles and strategies, increase communication, break unhealthy cycles, and develop methods of interacting that will help the entire household. Many families find that family therapy helps bring lasting changes to their relationships and their child's well-being.
Alcohol & Drug Treatment I approach my work with a complex understanding of how mental health influences addiction. I work with individuals wanting to cut down their use, become completely sober, or explore how their use is affecting their overall health and relationships. I also work with families of individuals who use alcohol and drugs. It can be emotionally exhausting to watch someone we love be pulled away from us by alcohol or drug abuse.
Group TherapyGroups can be extremely powerful. Within a group we are able to learn about many layers of ourselves. We are understood by people with similar struggles. We are challenged to look at how we interact in relationships. We come to a greater acceptance of ourselves. Many clients find that group therapy is an effective and affordable way to deepen their understanding of themselves.
